How do you capture in words the feeling of awe? If you picture beautiful children greeting you with a thousand year old ritual you're getting close. Pictured is a traditional Maharashstra dance called Lezim being preformed to honor my arrival by students from Abhinava High School.
What beautiful colors and beautiful girls! How wonderful that they practice these ancient rituals. It's sad that the horrible tradition of subjugating women has to stick around as well.
I think perhaps your comment of "horrible tradition of subjugating women " is viewed through a westerner's lens. I would not pass judgement without checking with the source. The young women I spoke with viewed the dance as an honor.
